Answers to common questions about using visitor.us for a Baja vehicle
Once we have your vehicle’s properly signed prior title, we will register your vehicle in two weeks or less.
visitor.us offers 40-day Montana temp tags that will allow you to hit the road while your registration is in process.
When your registration is complete, we will send your Montana license plates and registration document to a location that’s convenient for you.
Montana issues titles by mail about four to six weeks after registration. When we receive your title, we'll contact you to arrange delivery to a location that's convenient for you.
We charge a flat fee for vehicle registration - it makes life easier for everyone.
We do charge an additional flat fee of $50 for shipments from or to international destinations, to cover the additional cost.
And for motorhomes with a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $350,000 or more, and non-motorhome vehicles with an MSRP of $150,000 or more, we charge an additional 1% of the vehicle's value to cover Montana's luxury vehicle surcharge.

Absolutely!

Montana registrations for motorcycles and trailers are permanent by default, meaning they never need to be renewed.
Vehicles (other than motorcycles and trailers) ten years old and newer must renew their registration annually, and vehicles 11 years and older are eligible for permanent registration for an additional fee.
Just as with your license plates, registration document, and title, we can FedEx your registration renewal document and decal to you in Baja or anywhere else that might be convenient for you.
Some US states cancel a vehicle's registration if its insurance lapses.
This can be a problem for vehicles that stay in Baja - either the owner pays for US insurance that is useless in Baja, or risks having the vehicle's registration being cancelled.
Luckily, Montana *does not* cancel a vehicle's registration if it doesn't have a US insurance policy in place.
In order to register a vehicle with Canadian ownership documents, the vehicle must first be imported into the United States.
Completing the import process requires the vehicle to be brought to a US Port of Entry for inspection by US Customs and Border Patrol.
Because visitor.us doesn't have a presence at any US Ports of Entry, we are unable to assist with the vehicle import process.
After the vehicle has been imported to the United States, visitor.us can register the vehicle in Montana.
